Starting with the 2008 vintage, Jean-Pierre Monier entered into a working relationship with Philippe Perréol to combine their resources in order to meet the increasing market demand. Perréol works his vines just like Monier. They currently have three labels, depending on vineyard origin and legal reporting requirements: Domaine Monier, Domaine Perréol, and Domaine Monier-Perréol.
Châtelet is the sole vineyard entirely owned and farmed by Philippe Perréol, without Monier — hence the Domaine Perréol label. It is a site rich in limestone and granite and it produces wines that are particularly aromatic, vibrant and finely-structured. A shiny dark red, this wine shows black cherry, smoke, and violet on the nose, with an energetic palate beautifully mixing peppery fruit and terroir-driven chalky minerality.
