Nuestra Soledad "San Luis del Rio" Mezcal 750ml
San Luis Del Rio, in the district of Tlacolula, is a small village making big mezcal. Tucked away in the mountains, the intense heat of the sun at high elevation results in early-ripening agave with concentrated sugars. Bold mesquite, bright citrus, and black pepper abound.
Maestro mezcaleros Ivan and Francisco Mendez use 100% EspadĂn (Agave angustifolia) grown at an elevation of over 7,000 feet. This mezcal is milled using horse-driven stone tahona, cooked in a conical earthen oven, naturally fermented in open-air wooden tanks (tinas), and distilled twice using traditional copper pot stills.
Aromas of poblano pepper, black pepper, and mesquite precede a palate which echoes the nose with bold mesquite, black pepper, and umami-rich green vegetation.
Mezcal Nuestra Soledad is a celebration of the unique terroir and distillation traditions of six different, prominent distilling communities within the Valles Centrales region of Oaxaca, Mexico. Hand-selected by the iconic CortĂ©s family of El Jolgorio fame, each palenque (distillery) crafts a distinctive mezcal from 100% EspadĂn agave using centuries-old indigenous Zapotec methods.
